2010 Season Summary

The 2010 Men's soccer team had their best season record in seven years at 14-3-3. The young but talented Hawks won eight straight to cap a late season run. Seeded fourth in the NJCAA Region III Tournament, the Hawks advanced to the semifinals with a dominating 3-0 win over fifth seed Jamestown. The Hawks lost 2-1 in the regional semifinals to the eventual regional champion and national runner up. MVCC was led by captain and All-Region III senior midfielder Steve Wilday and First Team All-Region III freshman forward Armin Budnjo. First Team All-Region III freshman marking the backfield Blair Bellamy and standout freshman keeper Shane Connelly anchored the defense. The team was ranked nationally for much of the season. Highlights included winning early tournaments at Finger Lakes and at Alfred State.

Individual Honors were as follows: Armin Budnjo - First Team All-Region III, First Team All-Mountain Valley Conference, All Final Four Tournament Team; Blair Bellamy – First Team All-Region III, First Team All-Mountain Valley Conference; Steve Wilday – Second Team All-Region III, First Team All-Mountain Valley Conference; Shane Connelly - Honorable Mention All-Region III, Final Four All Tournament Team; David Gould and Matt Struckle - Honorable Mention All-Region III.
