Financial Aid Application Procedures

Applications for financial aid are available beginning in January for the following academic year. The process of applying for assistance takes approximately 4-6 weeks, therefore, it is important for students to apply early. Once all application materials are reviewed by the Financial Aid Office, the student will be notified if the Financial Aid Office needs additional information. Students who complete their application early increase their potential to receive any additional funds available from each of the financial aid programs. In order to receive Financial Aid, all students must be accepted into an eligible degree or certificate program for the semester that they are attending. [See Admissions] Please Note: Financial aid applications are not reviewed until all of the following requirements have been completed:

  1. File a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). MVCC requires that all students complete the initial or renewal FAFSA to apply for federal aid. The Office of Financial Aid must receive the results from this application before a student´s eligibility for aid can be determined. [FAFSA]. The MVCC Federal code is 002871. If you are a New York State resident and are eligible for a Tap Award, you may apply for TAP online at HESC. The New York State School code is 2105.

  2. Complete an MVCC Data Form. The MVCC Data Form is available at the Financial Aid Office or online at Applications & Forms.

  3. Verification. If selected the student is required to complete a Federal Verification Worksheet which is available online at Applications & Forms, or at the Financial Aid Office. In addition the student must attach a signed copy of his/her and their spouse´s signed Federal Income Tax Return (Form 1040, Form 1040A, or Form 1040EZ), and submit these forms to the Financial Aid Office. If the student is a dependent student, the student must attach a signed copy of his/her tax return and his/her parent´s Federal Income Tax Return (Form 1040, Form 1040A, or Form 1040EZ), along with all w-2s, to the Financial Aid Office.
