My goal for every vacation is to learn something new. The Texas Commission on the Arts has defined cultural tourism as “travel directed toward experiencing the traditional and contemporary culture, arts, and special character of a place.” My visit to the Greenwood Cultural Center in downtown Tulsa introduced me to “Black Wall Street”, an area in the African-American community where business were flourishing in the early 1900s. Join me for an introduction to the Greenwood District (prior to the 1921 Tulsa Race Riot).
