Growing Our Reach
The College became Mohawk Valley Technical Institute (MVTI) and officially joined the State University of New York (SUNY) system. This milestone expanded access to education and set MVCC on a path to broader regional influence.
1963
Finding Our Home in Utica
The College’s continued growth and investment in the Utica Campus helped cement MVCC’s place as a hub for education, community, and opportunity.
1974
Rome Campus Opens
The Rome Campus opened on Floyd Avenue, transforming a former county hospital into a thriving center for learning. This expansion allowed MVCC to reach more students and strengthen its presence in the community.
1989
Building for the Future
MVCC built the Science and Technology Building to provide dedicated spaces for hands-on STEM learning. This Era emphasized preparing students for technical careers and advancing academic excellence.
