Objectives:

  1. Reflect on college progress and achievements over the course of the Pathways Institute series and plan for next steps in the implementation of pathways at scale.
  2. Consider implications for institutional policy, procedures, and processes in implementing and sustaining guided pathways.
  3. Clearly call out racial and economic inequities within higher education and the impact on student success.
  4. Review systems thinking and shared equity leadership including what it looks like in practice, emerging outcomes, and recommended strategies.
  5. Review guided pathways research for lessons learned and how observations of effective guided pathways practices have evolved.
  6. Continue building an engaged and equity-minded learning network among Pathways colleges.

Session Description: How can college leadership work to ensure that momentum for guided pathways reform continues even amid leadership transitions? Josh Wyner, Executive Director of the Aspen Institute College Excellence Program, will lead this session designed to share strategies for how community college presidents, board members, and members of the cabinet can use their unique leadership positions to sustain focus on pathways work through periods of transition at the college. This session will draw from learnings from community colleges that have been finalists for the Aspen Prize and those particularly successful in implementing transformational change through guided pathways reforms to improve student success outcomes.
